According to the U.S. Department of Energy, homeowners can save up to 10 percent a year on heating and cooling costs by simply turning the thermostat back between 7 and 10 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 hours a day from its normal setting. Rather than needing to manually change the setpoints of your thermostat throughout the day, the Sensi app now has several scheduling features to automate and customize temperature adjustments throughout the year. Whether your asleep, at the office or on vacation, here’s the Sensi Touch smart thermostat scheduling tools and features that work around the clock to save you money and energy all year long:
Custom schedules
Sensi™ smart thermostats let you create custom temperature schedules for each day of the week (up to seven independent schedules). This makes it easy to create one or multiple schedules to match your family’s routine. Using the Sensi mobile app, select the days you want to follow a specific schedule. Then choose the time and temperature set points for each.

Early Start feature
The Early Start feature tells your Sensi thermostat to start the cooling (or heating) system early to ensure that your home is at the exact temperature you want at the time you want it, according to your schedule. This is a great feature for customers who prefer to lower temperatures at night in the winter months to save energy but don’t want to deal with the discomfort of having a cold house while they get ready to start the day.

Geofencing
For Sensi owners who prefer not to use a programmed schedule, we created the Geofencing feature to control your thermostat based on your location. This option tends to benefit users with busy and unpredictable daily schedules. When users travel three miles away from home, the Sensi app will signal for the thermostat to change set points and save energy. The thermostat will lower the temperature three degrees when the user is in heat mode or raise three degrees in cool mode. When a user travels back to within three miles from the home, the thermostat will be set back to the previously selected temperature. Just be sure to enable the geofencing feature for each thermostat in your home.
